Wii didn’t win yet, says THQ

wii.jpgDespite its great success Wii shouldn’t consider itself the winner of the next generation consoles war just yet, says THQ top man, Brian Farrell.

According to Farrell, both Microsoft and Sony still have enough of price cuts up their sleeves to remain in the race for no. 1 console on the market. “The way we’re thinking about this cycle from a high level is, the Wii at that lower price-point had a lot of momentum early in the cycle, but as Sony and Microsoft come down the price curve those two should accelerate, and there’s a lot of firepower left in their arsenal,” he said.

So we’re supposed to believe that more competitive price will even the fight? Not in my opinion, the fact is that even with the exact same price tag, the Wii would still lead, just because it is…something new. Sure the price also helps but we should be fair and praise it for what it is, a revolutionary gaming system intended for the whole family.
