What the Crysis system requirements are not

Crysis fansite, Crysis Online, published a list of minimum requirements for the game yesterday, and just when I was getting ready to comment on them, they’ve updated that post, saying those specs were released by accident…(what the…?!?) and that the official requirements might change.

Here are the requirements that have been posted initially.

CPU: Intel P4 2.8Ghz or AMD equivalent

RAM: 1GB

Video Card: 6800GT (256mb) or ATI/AMD Radeon 9800 Pro (256mb)

HDD Space: 16GB

OS: Microsoft Windows [XP and Vista I imagine]

Sound Card: DirectX 9.0c Compatible

Personally, I think that they chose to update by saying Crytek is still optimizing the game, because of the negative reactions on forums like Evil Avatar, regarding the unusually large diskspace required to install the game, and the shady equivalence between the announced Nvidia and Ati video cards.

Hopefully they’ll come up with a way to compress files or something, to shrink this monster down. I mean the largest I’ve ever played needed 6 Gb free disk space…but 16, that’s a pretty huge leap.
