Square Enix to focus on foreign affairs

After dismissing an article in the Financial Times from last week, claiming the Japanese developer is looking for publishing allies in the U.S. and Europe to help boost the company’s revenues, Square Enix president, Yoichi Wada issued an official statement.

Wada contradicted the article, saying Square Enix already receives more than 50% of total revenues from foreign markets, and not only 20% as the paper said. The company’s top man also said they are indeed focusing more on the foreign markets, because they acknowledge that the size of over-seas markets is continuously expanding. Square Enix has apparently come up with a 3 to 5 years plan to expand their foreign revenues from the current 50% to 75%. That means 3 out of 4 dollars will come from foreign affairs.

I have to agree I’m very pleased with this strategy since I’m a very big fan of Japanese style games and I do believe they will enjoy plenty of success on our markets.
