Sony expects even higher losses

After announcing they have suffered great losses in the video game department, due to the recent price-cut for the PlayStation 3, Sony has announced they are expecting their losses to double by the end of the fiscal year.

In an interview with the Reuters news agency, Sony has declared that, although its electronic division is doing better than expected. The video game department is scheduled to suffer even more losses. Although it’s somewhat normal for console developers to suffer losses, since making the device costs more than its selling price, Sony’s losses exceed even the darkest forecasts: $2 billion in 2007 alone. That means the current loses will double until the end of the fiscal year in March 2008. This after recently announcing that they plan to break even by the end of the fiscal year…talk about disappointment.
