Pro Evo 2008 win over Fifa 08 in UK

There’s always been some serious rivalry between these two football (soccer for you yanks) series and this year makes no exception. Quality wise, the question of which is the best is very hard to answer (although I must say I love Konami’s game, it brings some serious improvements to the genre), but in terms of sales…well numbers tell no lies.

According to Chart Track, although released later than EA’s Fifa 08, Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 is leading the way. After a great start, when its Xbox 360 version sold better, Fifa 08 fell behind, as the PES 2008 for the PS2 climbed in the number one spot with over 40% of total video game sales. If we count Fifa’s 30% we can definitely say football is a serious business in the United Kingdom.

Another thing to be observed here is that the PS2 continues to be Sony’s flagship in the console war, in spite of the recent price cuts and reported increased sales. Way to go old timer!
