PlayStation2 a.k.a. the Immortal

In spite of the increasing number of PS3s sold in August this year, Sony is having a very tough time promoting its new generation console. To be honest they could make a bigger effort and cut the price a bit, after all that’s the main reason people don’t get near it. But, instead of lowering the price of their new mean machine and stop being so damn proud, they decided to better promote the old PS2, who everybody said was a dying console, to cut their loses on the new generation front.
PC ADVISOR says Kaz Hirai, the new CEO and president of Sony’s gaming compartment, has announced they are planning to keep promoting the PS2 by maintaining a constant flow of new games for the system. Which makes some sense if you ask me, since this “dying” system is still outselling the PS3 in
Sure many see this as a bad strategy, saying Sony is hurting its newer model, because people will be reluctant to upgrade their system, as long as they still have a constant supply of games. And instead of concentrating on producing a system seller and really bringing the PS3 in the race with Microsoft’s and Nintendo’s machines, they’re looking into the past for a solution. But I still play on my trusty PS2, frankly I love it to death, even though she’s an old girl now, and hearing that she might just have another few years in her brings tears to my eyes(kidding, I’m no sissy). I for one admire Sony’s decision, no matter what their interests are, the fact that they haven’t completely abandoned their older endeavors, like others have (Microsoft and Nintendo), is pretty honorable.
And since Sony hasn’t announced a price cut for the PlayStation 3, like everyone expected them to, I predict a pretty long and prosperous for the already legendary PlayStation2. Hell, it deserves as much, it’s been Sony’s cash cow for so many years…
