November 2007 a month to remember

With Eidos Interactive announcing they will launch their 3rd person shooter Kane&Lynch: Dead Men on November 20, the last month of Fall 2007 has officially become the most eagerly awaited period of time by gamers everywhere. Sure if you look at the number of games shipping out, there’s nothing special about it, actually I think there are more games released in October, but if you look at the titles, you’ll understand why it’s so special.

With games like Mass Effect, Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune, Kane&Lynch and Rock Band sharing the same release date it’s easy to see why I believe November 2007 will definitely be remembered as a very…let’s say profitable month for video games developers.

And let’s not forget the highly anticipated and presumably revolutionary First Person Shooter, Crysis, EA’s spearhead for this year’s end, or Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed who’s trailers fascinate us every time we see them. Hellgate London is definitely another title that won’t be overlooked by gamers, with its infinite replayability value, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, probably the most anticipated game of this year (except Halo 3 of course), judging by the “most popular” rankings of major gaming web sites, Empire Earth III, another addition to an RTS series that needs no introduction, Need for Speed: ProStreet, the newest title of what is considered the most popular racing franchise in the industry, also races its way on to retailers in November. And there are so many others worth mentioning, Haze, Unreal Tournament III, The Hundred Years’ War for the PS3, WWE Smackdown vs. Raw 2008, and many, many others.

Quite frankly if Halo 3 was also launched in November, this upcoming month would most definitely have gone down in history as the most profitable month in gaming history. But hey, who knows maybe it still can, there’s a lot of hype around these titles as well, we’ll just have to wait and see.
