MGS 4 storyline revealed

If you weren’t lucky enough to watch MGS producer Hideo Kojima do his live presentation at this year’s Tokyo Game Show, don’t worry, we got you covered.

The now legendary Koj, spoke a lot about his latest creation, Metal Gear Solid 4, the game’s plot, the new bosses, the supporting characters and of course, the leading man, Solid Snake. Everyone lucky enough to be present at Konami’s MGS 4 presentation area received a pretty thick 50 page booklet, featuring details about MGS 4, artwork, interviews, development issues and most importantly, new storyline clues.

Apparently MGS 4 takes place five years after the end of MGS 2, in a chaotic world where war has become vital for the global economy. After the Big Shell incident, the US government demanded all soldiers working for Private Military Companies(PMCs) be injected with nanomachines called SOP(Sons of the Patriots), that control their actions and their emotions. As a result of this action, wars start to escalate and spread, to the point where the total PMC forces equal the strength of the entire US Army.

To make matters worse, the top five PMCs are all controlled by an organization called Outer Haven, commanded by Snake’s old enemy Liquid Ocelot. It’s then safe to assume Ocelot kidnapped doctor Naomi Hunter in order to somehow sabotage the SOP and create an insurrection. Although his motives haven’t yet been revealed, some believe it’s because he wants to create the Outer Haven dreamed by Big Boss.

So it’s up to the now gray haired Snake to travel to a war zone in the Middle-East and, with the help of Otacon, assassinate his arch enemy/brother. It seems Snake’s aging problem is due to defects in his Dna…makes sense, him being a clone and all.

Even though the whole story won’t be revealed until you finish the game, it’s safe to say Kojima has come up with another intriguing plot .

The MGS series producer also talked about the game’s bosses, a special unit called “Beauty and the Beast” and about Meryl Silverburgh’s team, revealing their names and special abilities.

This presentation also brought some bad news for all Metal Gear Solid fans, as Kojima confirmed once again that this will be the end of Solid Snake’s adventures, and that this will be the last Metal Gear game. So I say we enjoy it to the fullest.
