Infogrames to buy Atari publicly held stock?

atari1.jpgThe already parent company of Atari made an offer to buy all publicly held stock for the price of $1.68 per stock.

This move would ensure that financial-troubled Atari wouldn’t get delisted from NASDAQ, as it has been threatened on many occasions and, it would allow Infogrames to make decisions and implement them in the company much more easily.

Although this seems as a break for the Alone in the Dark publisher, it’s not yet a done deal, “The offer is non-binding and there is no assurance that any transaction will occur,” Atari said.

It would be nice to know Atari wouldn’t have to accept being acquired or declare bankruptcy, they’ve been in the industry for far too long.
