2K Games announced that two of its most anticipated video-games, Mafia 2 and Borderland, which both scheduled for release this fall, have been pushed back into the company’s 2009 fiscal year.
Now, that fiscal year begins in November of this year, so that still gives them a month of fall to release the games, but I doubt they’ll release both of them in such a short time. I for one was really looking forward to Mafia 2, even more than to GTA4, but I guess 2009 is better than never. Both titles are being developed for the 360, PS3 and PC
2K also revealed that it’s going to release the next installment in the Midnight Club series, codenamed Los Angeles, this fall, between August and October, for the Xbox 360 and PS3.

For some undisclosed reason, Codemasters has pushed the release date of its shooter to March 14 for Europe.
Turning Point: Fall of Liberty, a game that offers a different take on World War 2, where the Nazis actually won the war, won’t be hitting European retailers on February 29, as originally announced, but two weeks later, on March 14.
In Turning Point: Fall of Liberty you’ll be playing as an average American guy, fighting for survival against the invading Nazi troops, who later forms a resistance group and takes the fight back to the old continent.
The original release date of February 29 hasn’t changed for the US.

Assistant producer Ryan Payton says the game is on track for a Q2 2008 release on all major markets.
According to Payton, Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots is already playable from start to finish and will shortly enter the bug testing phase. The team at Kojima Productions is apparently working hard to keep the release deadline, as the big man himself, Hideo Kojima already feels embarrassed for the game not being released in 2007.
Kojima Productions is supposedly planning a Gears of War-like “Emergence Day” marketing strategy, also releasing a huge load of game info for the fans.

Metal Gear Solid 4, possibly the most anticipated game on the PS3, finally got a release date, even though it didn’t come from developer Konami.
We were first able to see proof of MGS4 back in 2005 when the PS3 was first presented and I was sure it would be one of the first games to launch for the new console, as means to increase interest in the system. Boy was I wrong! The game remained to be announced to this day (sure they said sometime in 2008, but that’s not a release date).
Well, if we’re to believe what retailers like GameStop and EB Games are saying, we’ve finally got a set release date, at least for the US: June 17th 2008. The game is already available for preorder for the price of $59.99.
So if you’re a fan of Kojima’s work and want to save yourself the stress of having to battle for a copy when MGS4 finally comes out, it’s worth 5 bucks to preorder.

For those of you that are looking for a more in depth look at the universe of the acclaimed tactical shooter, Gears of War, the upcoming novel, Gears of War – The Pendulum Wars – The Battle of Aspho Fields, will surely come as a blessing.
The book is reportedly being written by Steven L. Kent, who is known for his many sci-fi novels and strategy guides. It is being published by Del Rey Books, it will sport 352 action packed pages, and is due to come out on February 26, 2008.
This Battle of Aspho Fields took place before the video-game’s storyline, during the Locust-Human war, where the main character, Marcus Fenix performed many acts of great bravery.
I hope this doesn’t mean that the next game in the series won’t cast some light on questions like: Why was Marcus in jail? Where did these Locusts come from? Who was Marcus’ father, and many more. That was the only reason that left me a little disappointed at the end of Gears of War, not being able to fully understand what I was fighting against and why. Let’s hope we’ll learn soon enough.

I mean actually he is…but he really isn’t…let me explain myself.
Every time I see that damned Hitman movie trailer I tell myself the director could have found a better actor to play the deadly Agent 47. Now don’t get me wrong, I think Olyphant is a very talented actor, I loved him as the cool pimp in “The girl next door” and as the ruthless Bullock from “Deadwood”…but as 47…it’s just doesn’t click. The man isn’t even slightly bald, he has quite a pile of hair on his head, and if you know your Hitman games, you know Agent 47 doesn’t have a single hair on his scalp, it simply doesn’t grow.

Eidos Interactive announced its highly anticipated 3rd person shooter will blast its way on to retailer shelves in North America on November 20. The sadistic duo will be unleashed on the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC.
Apparently the people over at Eidos are really competitive, since they’ve chosen to share a release dates with two other presumed to be console blockbusters: Mass Effect and Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune. Also Rock Band may also come out on the same date, so it’s safe to say November 20 is a date we’ll remember for a long time. If not because of the great games, because of the money we’ve spent on them.

Eidos’ 3rd person shooter seems to look even more amazing with each trailer I see. This is definitely one of my most anticipated games. I’ve always been a fan of 3rd person shooters, ever since I first played Max Payne, and Kane & Lynch seems to also have really strong characters and an interesting plot.

After it originally received an AO (Adult Only) rating from ESRB, the upcoming horror from Rockstar Games finally got the M rating it needed to release the game in the US.
Because Adult Only games aren’t accepted by the console manufacturers the only place Manhunt 2 could have been launched would have been the PC. And since the game was designed for the Playstation 2, PSP and Nintendo Wii systems, the game would have been a no go.

2K Games (finally) announced they are working on a sequel to the worldwide success title Mafia. You must remember Mafia, it was the game that practically introduced the gangster genre to gaming, and it did it with style.
Mafia 2 promises to be even better than its predecessor, although I don’t see what anyone can improve on, maybe just come up with something new. The game will be set in the same time period as the first installment , the 1940’s early 1950’s when the mob ruled the streets and the underworld.
