Two Worlds gets sequel

two_worlds.jpgOne of the few Eastern-European developed game that actually enjoyed some success on an international level, Two Worlds will be getting a sequel.

Two Worlds: The Temptation is already the top priority of SouthPeak Games, it’s a story sequel to the original game, set in the regions surrounding Oswaroh and the Drak’ar Desert. The Temptation will improve on the combat system, horseback riding and graphics.

“Our entire development team is now putting their all into making Two Worlds: The Temptation a game that is far and away better than the original. We’ve taken to heart all the comments made by gamers about Two Worlds and we’re going to give them what they want with the sequel.” says Miroslaw Dymek, Chief Developer for Reality Pump.

Two Worlds: The Temptation is developed for the PC and the Xbox 360 and will arrive fall 2008.

Valkyria Chronicles is in the works

valkyria_chronicles.jpgSEGA has announced it has started working on Valkyria Chronicles, a tactical RPG for the PlayStation3.

Valkyria Chronicles is set in an alternate Europe, around the 1930s, during a conflict between the Empire and Federation, where the bad guys uncover an ancient race and use it to conquer the world.

SEGA will use the CANVAS engine for the game’s graphics, which will make it look like a watercolor painting in motion (something like Okami perhaps?). “With its stunningly unique visual style and the new BLITZ tactical system, Valkyria Chronicles is sure to entice gamers to enter its special world and join Welkin and Alicia in their cause to save Gallia” said Elliot Chin, director of marketing for SEGA of America.

Valkyria Chronicles is set to be released in fall 2008, exclusively for the PS3.

FF XII to push PS3 to its limits

Square Enix is going all out with its first Final Fantasy title for the PlayStation 3. In an interview with Japanese magazine Dengeki, one of the big names behind the popular RPG franchise, Tetsuya Nomura had some interesting things to say about the upcoming Final Fantasy XII.

Nomura seemed confident about FF XIII and even went as far as to say that it will probably be the first PS 3 title to actually push Sony’s machine to the limits. Thanks to the built in hard drive of the console and the Blu-ray feature, the leap from Final Fantasy XII to Final Fantasy XIII could be similar to the evolution of FF VI to FF VII, and we all know what a revolutionary breakthrough that was.

Asked if FF XIII will be a PlayStation 3 exclusive, Nomura said: “Of course!”.

Although this all sound very promising, the fact that we don’t even have an estimated release date yet is really disappointing. But hey at least it looks like it will be worth the wait…

BioWare working on Jade Empire 2

Despite focusing on the recently released Mass Effect for some time now, it seems RPG experts BioWare haven’t forgotten about some older titles that conquered the hearts of many gamers a while back.

Dean Takahashi, columnist for Mercury News recently published a piece on his blog saying he “talked with somebody who saw code for Jade Empire 2” and that it is in development for the Microsoft Xbox 360. The game was probably thought as a 360 exclusive, but with the acquisition of BioWare by EA, we’re likely to see it released on as many platforms as possible, we all know EA’s habit of maximizing its profits.

However there has been no confirmation from BioWare so far, so until that happens this remains only a rumor.
