Capcom announced the movie is one of its many projects to celebrate Street Fighter’s 20th anniversary.
The movie is scheduled for a 2009 release and it is being produced in collaboration with Hyde Park Films and distributed by 20th Century Fox. The plot revolves around Chun-Li, played by Kristen Kreuk (Smallville). The cast also includes Michael Clark Duncan, Neal McDonough and Taboo of the Black Eyed Peas.
The press release also reminds us of how lucky the Japanese are, by teling us Street Fighter IV will be available in Japanese arcades, starting this summer.
I know everyone’s complains about how much the first Street Fighter movie sucked, but I don’t think it was all that bad. But I do hope this one ends up being better.

At least that’s what Erling Ellingsen, product manager at Funcom, said during an interview with CVG.
“When it comes to World of Warcraft, it’s going to run up to World of Warcraft and kick it in its knees, I think” Ellingsen said before adding “It’s never going to get the number of players World of Warcraft has”. He acknowledged that Blizzard’s cash-cow has become a social phenomenon that’s incredibly hard to copy and went as far as to compare it with Facebook: “you can try to create the new Facebook, but will it ever become that popular?”
Ellinsen is however confident that Age of Conan will appeal to a large variety of players, because it’s very different than other MMOs. He also praised the game’s combat system, which would fit in any quality single-player action adventure game.

The video game publishing giant announced it has signed a deal with Microsoft-owned, dynamic ad network, Massive Inc.
Massive Inc. will supply dynamic ads for the next installments in series like Madden NFL, NBA Live, NASCAR racing, NHL hockey, on all of Microsoft’s platforms. Also included in the deal are ads for Burnout: Paradise and Need For Speed Carbon and ProStreet.
EA wasn’t been clear about whether games not mentioned in the deal, like Skate and Tiger Woods golf, are going to get dynamic in-game ads, saying “Today’s announcement is only focused on the titles included in the press release. As more new EA titles are publicly announced, you can expect to hear plans about how the Massive relationship affects them.”

The world’s biggest video-games retailer managed to cash in a total of $7.1 billion in the past year.
In its financial year 200f, GameStop registered a massive revenues growth of 33%, cashing in a total of $7.1 billion. The company’s net profit was of $288.3 million. Despite having opened 586 new stores worldwide, during the 52 weeks period, it still had a year-end cash balance of $857 million.
The fourth quarter was the most profitable, with a 46% revenue increase. That does make sense if we remember all the block-busters that were released just in time for the holydays, games like Super Mario Galaxy, Call of Duty 4, Assassin’s Creed or Guitar Hero 3.
GameStop expects an even better fiscal year 2008, predicting a revenue growth between 19 and 21 percent and a sales increase of 24%-25%, in the first quarter. The company plans to open another 575 to 600 new stores during this fiscal year.
