Receiving a number of Wiis just in time for Christmas is a real joy and, at the same time, a real problem for retailers across the country, as the people are so desperate for the Nintendo machine, that you don’t know what they’ll do.
So I guess I can understand why some Best Buy shops avoid displaying or announcing their newly received Nintendo Wiis. Dave Wolf, General Manager at a Best Buy near Baltimore, said that he chose not to display any Wii in the shop, in stead employees walk around and tell people they have them in stock. This way they could avoid mob scenes.

Now how would you fell if you wanted a Sony PS3 very badly and you saw the it under the Christmas tree, just waiting to be unpacked? You’d probably be thrilled, but what if there would be something else in the package?
That’s what happened to 13 year old Brandon Burns from Camarillo, California, who tore the PS3 box to bits only to find a…Thousand Oaks phone book. Now the kid says he felt more like laughing than getting mad when he saw his “awesome” present and I can understand that, he probably thought it was some kind of joke. Only it wasn’t, his parents really had got him a PS3. His mother, Nicole Burns, suspects an employee from EBGames, the store where she bought the…PS3 box, really wanted the Sony console, so he took it and replaced it with the phone book.
