10 years in jail for Zapper robbery

Two young men were convicted to 10 years in jail for committing armed robbery using…a Wii Zapper.

It all happened back in May, when Arthur Swain, an 18 year old boy, walked in an Ameristop Food Mart around closing time, approached the counter and pulled out a gun, that was later identified as being a NES Zapper. The guy only managed to take $100 from the cash register so you can’t really say it’s worth the hard time.

Jack Thompson sues Best Buy and ESRB

First of all, for those of you who don’t know anything about Jack Thompson, he’s a lawyer who can’t stand violence in video-games and the fact that Mature rated games are sometimes sold to minors. I know what you’re going to say, you know a lot of people like him, but what makes him special is that he actually sues everybody he has a problem with.

PS2 celebrates 7th anniversary

Forgetting its problems, regarding the poor sales of PS3s around the globe, at least for one day, Sony celebrated PS2’s seventh anniversary on Friday. That’s right folks it’s seven years old, which in human years means it is like 70 or 80 years old. And believe it or not it’s still alive and kicking.

The PlayStation 2 is officially the most popular gaming platform ever released, with over 120 million units and more than 2 billion software titles sold worldwide. Those are truly unbelievable figures if you ask me and what’s even more amazing is that it’s still going strong, remaining Sony’s flagship in the video game department. Actually officials from the Japanese giant have declared they plan on developing new software for the PS2 until as far as 2010.

Assassin’s Creed has gone gold

Good news from French publisher Ubisoft, their stealth action game has gone gold and is sure to hit retailer shelves on November 16 for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

Officials from the company have also declared that Assassin’s Creed will receive a +15 rating from the BBFC.
